Compulsory Voting. Interesting idea and I support the main principle however, as with most things in this country, I fear it would just be something else that would be badly managed. The loop holes will be exploited, and the usual people will get around the system – you know, the ones claiming 3 lots of benefits and the like. A better step would be to offer postal voting (which was offered with great success for a few of yesterdays local elections), online voting (wow – radical!), or voting by text message??
