Walk This Way (feat. Aerosmith) by Run-DMC

What’s your favorite collaboration between artists?

My actual favourite is only on YouTube — the cover of While My Guitar Gently Weeps performed by Rock n Roll Hall of Famers and includes THAT guitar solo by Prince — so in lieu of that, the answer is obvious.

I was heavy into rock music as a young boy, discovering Iron Maiden before most of my friends, and so one of these bands were on my radar already.

I’ve mentioned it before but the local library record department was excellent, providing me with many first listens of bands first/early albums that, in hindsight, I realise now was pretty up with the times.

So I’d already listened to some Aerosmith, and had started to explore a new sound coming from America, Hip Hop.

Run-D.M.C. were the band I discovered, their first two albums blowing my young (12-year-old) mind, it wasn’t like anything I’d listened too and I was hooked.

So in 1986 when they collaborated with Aerosmith on Walk This Way, it likely set me on a path that took me all the way to… Linp Bizkit?

Anyway. It remains a favourite, and as it was the first collaboration that felt like it was made just for me, it gets my pick today.
