Back in the day, because I’m old and remember such things, when someone offered their view on something, they seemed aware that it was only THEIR views, and would often mark it as such by stating “in my opinion”, or simply IMO.
And IMO this needs to make a comeback.
So many comments and posts —which I fully understand are written by a person so are a representative of their views (why else would they write them)— have a tone that presumes that the opinion being offered is undeniable fact, when it is simply an opinion.
Perhaps a slight amount of humility would help ease opposing viewpoints, reduce the mild anger that persists across social media, allow a new starting point for discussion and understanding?
This is, of course, just my opinion.
