Return of the Shorts

Anyone know of an EASY way to import a load of links into del.icio.us?

~

Flickr Uploader is fab, I’m slowly moving my photos to Flickr and may yet need to sign up for a Pro account. The more I look at it the better it gets (unlike my photos…).

I have a few outstanding tasks for Scottish Blogs (all being constrained by my lack of PHP skills), which I’m hoping to tackle this weekend, yet I’m getting the urge to redesign here again. I think it needs to be … less. Not sure. Still thinking. Apathy will probably win out.

The only disadvantage of having a coffee maker in the office is my occasional habit of letting my coffee go cold. Ick.

I’ll leave this trilogy of posts here this weekend. I expect some answers and comments by Monday!

Have a good weekend y’all, y’hear.

The Shorts strike back

Lyle, look away now.
Tomorrow our Christmas tree goes up. This brings immeasurable joy to my darling wife and, somehow, this is a compromise. The compromise being that it isn’t up all year. Not sure how she got me to agree to that one, she can be a devious so-and-so sometimes.

Our new office coffee machine is up and running. Lovely. A Kenyan blend to start with. Ohh and if you are looking for a nice Xmas pressie, it was only £7 from Asda. Think I’ll pick one up at the weekend.

Time for a new video card for my PC. Currently have 64MB Video Card that came with the PC and Pro Evolution Soccer 4 is running like a dog. I’ve got a reasonable machine as it is (P4, 1GB RAM, oodles of drive space) but this is the one area that is lacking. Any suggestions? nVidia or ATI? Price IS a consideration, brand isn’t. I’m hoping for 128MB for under £60. Possible? Of course if anyone wants to buy it for me for Xmas… hint hint.

UPDATE: My nephew has offered his old one which he says will suffice. Not sure the spec yet, or what he is charging, AND I can’t get it until he gets his new one in January.. but hey, I’m sure a fiver will do, right Christopher? 😉

You HAVE checked out Lellybobs, right? A star in the making maybe?

I’ve now edited this post 7 times. I think that is a record and obviously overdosing on caffeine is not helping.

Shorts

It’ll be a day of short posts I’m afraid (or a couple of posts with lots of short bits in them). Splitting headache when I woke up. In fact I was in bed at 10.30pm last night (very early for me) and I still don’t feel like I’ve had any sleep. Can anyone say “head cold”? And yes I KNOW you can, it’s a figure of speech – see, the advantage of knowing your audience is knowing how many of you would add “head cold” as a comment.

Open letter to the guys at Google/GMail: Yes I KNOW I’ve got 1GB of storage space, but I refuse to fill it up with crap. THAT’S why I deleted some emails “forever”, and why I will continue to do so. I could do without the sarcastic “Who needs to delete when you have 1000 MB of storage?!” message. Thanks.

Presuming I’m not dead come 5pm, I have a night out tonight. Well a few drinks after work anyway. In fact I have two nights out tonight so will have to do some juggling. I’m just too popular.

Anyone else noticed that the Metro appears to be running a series of “How to be a chav/boyracer” articles? They are customising a Punto and in today’s Metro they also offered some suggestions of what to wear. Yes, it did include Burberry. I think this is an example of the writers at Metro NOT knowing their target audience which, I presume, is almost entirely made up of commuters on their way to work. Not any chavs or neds or [insert own local term for delinquents here].

Cake day today. Highlight of my working week. That’s a bad thing I think…

Aromatic

I like coffee. I like nice coffee even more.

So when a work colleague suggested a few of us chip in to get a proper coffee maker, and save us all from Nescafe hell, I jumped at the chance. Just think, filtered coffee. Bliss. We can take turns bringing in a blend (fair trade of course), and if we chip in enough maybe get one with a timer so it’s ready when I get into the office (I’m usually one of the first in, well the first coffee drinker anyway).

That’s the thing though. I’m usually first in.. so guess who’ll be making the coffee.

I knew there’d be a catch.

Wheelchair

The more I thought about it, the more I realised just how hard it must be and so my admiration levels grow.

I’d probably need an adapted car, for whilst the trains DO cater for wheelchair users I’m not sure how long I’d last being the person (thing) holding everyone up. Then I’d need someone to open the doors when I get to work. The main building is accessed through a revolving door, although there are firedoors on either side. Then I’d need someone to open the door of the office as I wouldn’t be able to reach the code panel from the wheelchair, and they’d probably need to open both doors as I’m not sure the wheelchair would fit through if just one was open. Working wouldn’t be a problem, the office layout allows for a fair amount of space. But the hassle of getting to and from work would probably end up being the factor that stopped me working in the office.

What would YOU do if you were suddenly paralysed from the waist down?

Adieu

Insubstantial is closing and it doesn’t sound like it is for good reasons, hope it’s nothing too bad.
