More Clever Stuff

Ok, I think I’m up and running now (it’s a bit unnerving when Blogger goes down for maintenance just after you’ve been trying out a new script. You can’t help thinking… oops was that me?).

Meta Linker is now in full effect y’all. A simple idea, but could prove useful/fun/annoying. Have to wait and see which!

Online Games

I’m pretty sure I’ve featured this before (MUST implement a search facility for this site…) but they are worthy of repeat mention.

Be warned: You WILL lose large portions of your day here. (Even if you just spend 10 mins activating the lovely smooth mouseovers on the main page like me…).

Have fun at Orisinal.

Blogistan

O’Reilly Emerging Technologies Conference

All hail the “the Distributed Republic of Blogistan”: “A main theme was quick to emerge… the sudden realisation that each of us.. were all heading in the same philosophical direction: that developers now see the internet as a platform to run applications on, rather than something to connect to”.

A rich seam of knowledge was available and was thoroughly wrung out, the main conference website gives plenty of detail, and makes for absorbing research reading. The proliferation of personal comments from attendees also gave a nice insight to how it ‘really’ went down. All in all everyone who attended came away feeling slightly dizzy, very enthusiastic, and chock full of ideas.

Yet another thing to add to my ‘must attend’ list it seems.

Some other coverage:
Megnut was there.
Jason was there too.
Doc Searls reported in real-time.
Dan Gillmor said a few words.
And the Guardian Coverage was OK.

Concept Car

VWvortex Volkswagen Audi “Volkswagen presents the world’s first 1-liter car”

“”It really is a fascinating experience to drive through the night at 100 km/h with the fuel consumption indicator showing just 1.0 ltr./100 km, and nothing but the stars above your head.””

Very clever, and looks like something from a film by Luc Besson.

The glory of Google

Is it the number one search engine yet? I remember reading about a month ago that it was closing on Yahoo…

Anyway, one of the reasons I like Google is (aside from the simple navigation and ease-of-use factor) is the proliferation of ‘extras’. I am slightly annoyed that I’m never the first to find them, although that is understandable as I am inherently lazy when it comes to things like that. So, via Plasticbag, I give you, well he gives you, er… you know what I mean… Google Labs. Yummy. Clever.

AOLMSN?

I have never tried AOL, I use Hotmail, but not MSN, and I’ve only a vague idea of the components of each. This little tool seems very clever though, I wonder how AOL will hit back. (via Evhead)
