I had good responses to my post the other day and it made me realise that, given my renewed focus here, I should treat it better than I have been.
So I’ll be trying a couple of plugins over the coming weeks to see which one I like best, all of which will pull from actual images that are available for me to use (Unsplash as one of the best examples).
All of this takes me back to the early days of blogging where things changed quickly, you reacted as best you could, and tried to find little ways to improve your site over time. This is similar, I dived into embracing Featured Images in the quickest, lowest impact TO ME way that I could find. I started with unDraw before AI became prevalent and so easy to abuse.
The responses and replies I’ve received, as well as writing the post itself, makes me realise how the featured image represents ME and this site. I’ll be honest and admit it wasn’t something I’d really thought about in any great detail — my focus has always been on the words and prose — but now that I’ve considered it and had some opinions from smart, knowledgeable people (who are all very beautiful too) I have to agree it’s time for a change.
Thanks to all who commented and emailed and prompted me by posting their own thoughts on this too. The times are always a-changin’!
