Spiderman 2

Well that was quite good. Nothing brilliant but it hit the right spots. The action scenes are MUCH better than the first one, and there is even a little character development. The ‘tortured soul’ that is Spiderman is more to the fore, and aside from some rather twee and obvious speeches (just to make sure we ‘get’ it) it’s all handled well.

Here’s hoping the third one is a bit lighter, and we get some more of those corny one-liners that Spidey is famous for… ohh and whilst I remember, Alfred Molina was great, and Kirsten Dunst once again ends up in a nipple-chillingly wet dress. This is a good thing, and they’d better included it in the third movie.

Upcoming

Diet hell. Louise gets her bridesmaid dress in a couple of weeks. Cue frantic last minute dieting and exercise regime which I’ll be forced to participate in (not a bad thing I guess).

Mole hell. Appointment tomorrow to see if I can get a mole removed from my back. It’s constantly catching on things and has started to bleed occasionally.

Remortgage hell. Our fixed rate period ends in August, so I’ll be off to our IFA to see about remortgaging.

Central heating hell. More quotes this week.

In other, good, news. Probably off to see Spiderman 2 tonight and it IS a lovely sunny day. Think I’ll go sit in the garden and read a book.

Life on Air

As we now have a smaller car, the trip through to Loch Lomond yesterday required one of us to take the train (I’m convinced that one of the in-laws suitcases contained only alcohol and cigarettes, I digress). I quite enjoy a leisurely train journey and jumped at the chance knowing it would give me some time to relax and finish off a book I’ve been reading for a while.

David Attenborough: Life on Air (currently only £3.99!) was a present (at Christmas I think) and I highly recommend it. If you enjoy the man’s natural history programmes then you’ll find this book fascinating. It recounts his entire working life, with many anecdotes surrounding the filming and techniques used. He has an excellent turn of phrase and I got the distinct impression that the majority of his life has been spent, not only doing something he enjoys immensely but laughing constantly.

If you are looking for a book to take on holiday, I’d suggest this. It’s very easy to read and compellingly fascinating.

And no, I don’t know if compellingly is a word.

Survived

Well that’s the in-laws happily ensconsed in their caravan. I hope the weather isn’t too bad for them.

We only made it through 5 bottles of wine, we did have two when we went out to dinner, which means we’ve still got plenty left for us.

Guess I’d better go find out what else is happening in the world.

Three down

Nine to go… hic!

Off out to dinner soon, having spent the day buying plants, planting plants, and moving plants under the watchful eye of the in-laws.

They’re quite handy.

And what odds that Lance Armstrong gets his record breaking sixth Tour de France this year?
