Yawn

Spent most of yesterday lounging around, only to be phoned at 8pm with the news that our youngest niece had been taken to Yorkhill children’s hospital. She’s the second youngest of four, and Louise’s sister is on her own. So we dropped everything and headed to the hospital.

After seeing 5 doctors, have 3 X-Rays they finally agreed that she had pneumonia. Anti-biotics, and home for 3:30 a.m.

So forgive me if I’m a bit tired today.

Stroppy? Me?

I’m not the most patient man. I enjoy shopping at my speed which varies on the task at hand, if I’m browsing for me then I can take all day, but if I have a LIST then get the hell outta my road!

Watched some NBA this morning then went shopping. Shopping of the Christmas variety. Now we are genuinely pretty good at this, and as has become custom, we go for coffee at Cafe Crema (best coffee shop in Hamilton, if not West of Scotland), compile our hit list for the day and head off. This year we are still unsure what to get some people so we are doing a bit off the cuff.

This isn’t helping me at all. I think I’ve related my tale of shouting at a ‘lady’ in Milton Keynes shopping centre, and today was pretty similar. Ohhh except today I had a headache as well.

Truth be told I was pretty well behaved today, only a few loudly spoken “Excuse me!!” and a couple of muttered “stupid place to stand…” passed my lips.

So I’m quite looking forward to tonight, chilling out at my brother-in-laws for dinner. Although I think I’m driving which.. well, let’s just say that I could do with a drink!

Bloggers on the Radio

Listen to the show (requires Real Player).

Very interesting, especially the first half, trying to put faces (sites) to the voices. Well done to Margaret for pulling the whole thing together, and to everyone involved.

It is a little odd though, remembering reading some of the posts and my interpretation of them and then balancing that against the author reading what he/she wrote and giving it their own emphasis. The best example is Peter’s comments about the MTV invasion of Leith which becomes a lot more powerful a message with the author’s voice inserting the pauses and emphasis as he planned. Of course, he is a seasoned radio pro, so probably had an unfair advantage…

Here’s the list of participants (that I couldn’t find earlier).

Meant to say

I’ve got a couple things in draft that I’ve not gotten around to finishing yet, mainly because I can’t seem to complete the thoughts themselves.

One centres around my surprise at the attitude of some people when they heard I was off to a gay pub last Friday night. It was shocking, eye opening and more (the reactions, not the pub, although that was eye opening in another way…).

The other concerns the “Blog Clique” posting, but I’m still analysing that one.

Ohh and currently listening to Blog Day on Radio Scotland!

Friday morning.. 7 a.m.

Dark. Quiet. Uninhabited streets. Lonely trains. Early workers nod silent understanding.
