Blurry brill

Miserable, depressed, confused and thoroughly hacked off with life. OK, not quite yet but it is heading that way. Relaxing weekend went wrong on Saturday night and have spent whole of Sunday trying to relax and forget it, but can’t. Also aware that I am dangerously close to plagiarising the last two books I’ve just read. Blurry brill… Oof, tumbled over.

Anticipating another fun week at work, with the growing realisation that I should relax and start to not care about it, it is, after all, only a job, there are others.

Oh and still can’t remember getting home on Friday evening.

Temporary

I’m not going to write any more about school shootings in the U.S. The BBC are of the same opinion as me, ban the guns, and stop rolling out the ‘guns don’t kill people, people kill people’ argument, it’s just plain insulting. One thing this kind of tragedy does give is a sense of perspective, but it is worrying how easily we forget and move on these days, no longer do these sort of events linger in the news. Front page one day, almost forgotten the next. Have we become so self-centred that we don’t care what happens our fellow man?

Anticipation

Memento – this will be one of the quiet films of the year, slowly building to be a classic, similar to the way Usual Suspects did it. Can’t wait for this movie, and if you have Flash installed you gotta visit the website… very clever.

Laughingly down

Nuts. I had planned to follow my carefully planned and thought out ‘to do’ list this week. It’s only Monday and I’m already behind. Bummer.

Still the sound of C’s laughter is cheering me up no end – you know the type, infectious and makes everyone smile.

Slightly concerned about a friend’s well-being at the moment, I’ve offered her support, just hope it’s not too serious and can be solved. Begrudingly paid my gas bill today. I’m hatching a scheme to try and get them back, but keep getting Bottom-esque exploits with gas pipes popping into my head – for those who don’t know (and I had really better explain) Bottom is a ‘sitcom’ by Rik Mayall and Ade Edmondson which is … well sitcom isn’t really the word – anarchic comedy based around gratuitous violence and sex might be a better description… or it might not…

Weekender

Monday morning… aww crap it’s afternoon already.

Very quiet, lazy weekend. Highlight was actually leaving the house to go to the supermarket. Low point of weekend was 3 (versus 43). So far none of the English guys in our office have said anything, so far.

Funny how at this point in the week the deadlines (which include end of day today) seem so far off, next thing I know it will be Friday and I’ll be rushing about like an idiot. Mind you if I could actually get the opportunity to plan what I do instead of react to others… well we can all dream.

Simple things

six says… – I’ve had similar experiences. There is SomeTHiNG awesome about the simplest thing, I know it sounds crappy but that moment in American Beauty captured it perfectly. Such a simple thing, a plastic bag, blowing around in the wind. Utterly compelling, deeply moving, all you can do is watch spellbound. Ohh and go six on the contract thing! You ARE the man!, maybe you should adopt that as a mantra in times of need…
