I’ve been blogging for a long time, so I thought it might help if I compiled a short list of some of the better posts, both ones that have been popular and ones that I think are ‘best’.
(And no, I won’t define ‘best’.)
- 4 beeps in the night – 12/09/2017 – written partly as an experiment, partly to capture my frustration as such trivial things.
- How to make a cup of tea – 30/01/2007 – written for my (defunct) professional site, this one resonated well and was a lot of fun to write given that, the entire point of the post, is that there is no correct way to make a cup of tea (or is there?).
- *sticks two chips up nose* – 08/12/2006 – one of my most visited posts ever and, if I’m being honest, I’m not really sure why as it’s nothing of particular note. Likely I got linked from somewhere and that bumped my stats for a couple of days.
- The Accidental BA – 13/05/2025 – I’ve been a Business Analyst for several years now, since transitioning from being a Technical Writer, and this post (written for an industry newsletter) outlines how that came about.
- The Disappearing Dad – 18/03/2023 – For years I found myself struggling at times to find topics to write about, now I have a son and no doubt these reflective posts will continue for years to come. I make no apologies. I love being a Dad.
- Paying Attention – 27/08/2025 – Another post that seemed to get a larger percentage of visits that I believe it should. I remember checking my referrer logs but couldn’t really see why. And yes, another ‘Dad Life’ post.
- Staying Positive – 23/11/2020 – PMA! PMA! PMA! Apparently therapy can take a while to ‘bed in’ but when it does this is the result. It’s lovely.
- The Morbid Truth – 31/07/2025 – I became a Dad at an older than average age. Confronting that made me change the focus of my life.
- I iz a cyclister – 09/07/2021 – I’ve always enjoyed cycling and while it’s taken a bit of a backseat since the birth of my son, it’s still what I consider my ‘sport’ to be these days.
- And finally, I would be remiss not to link to the most viewed post but I think only the title needs to be mentioned: How to embed linked images in Word 2010.
So there you have it, a few posts to get you started, enjoy!
