Big Pink Cookie

It’s official, Christine is number 1!!

But of course that kind of thing doesn’t make me jealous, oh no, I only do this for me, not for the glory and esteem….

Striped

Tiger seized from back yard of home. How is this possible? How can someone keep a tiger for 3 years and no-one seems to notice? How the hell do you hide a tiger?

“What was the roaring noise?”
“Ohhhh just the man nextdoor’s .. eh… lawnmower, one of those new supercharged ones”
“Oh, OK”

I really don’t think so.

One-liner

I was so poor growing up … if I wasn’t a boy … I’d have had nothing to play with – Rodney Dangerfield.

Not quite the type of quote I was looking for… 😉

Mr. Pearce

Love thy neighbour – Guy Pearce. I doubt very much that I am alone in my growing admiration of this ‘guy’ (oh dear). A couple more solid performances and I’m sold, although I have to say that Memento is easily one of my top 10 choices, probably top 5. I’m looking forward to the Count of Monte Cristo all the more.

US of A-pathy?

The US: A Safe Haven for Torturers.

Part of Amnesty International’s Torture Campaign. The main thought that is rushing round my head is “why does America never seem to act on these things?” Is it an arrogance thing? A lack of compassion? Too busy ‘policing’ the rest of the world (read as: imposing American ideals on foreign cultures – but then why can’t the rest of the world just be like America for goodness sake…).

Racist?

AlterNet — White Men Can’t Pass “the stereotypes of white and black basketball players dovetail so perfectly with the deeper archetypes that are at the core of how Americans think about race”.

Romantic racialism? or a simple way of seeing how far America has still to come on the way people view race, as opposed to the way they react to it.
