Slept in this morning so had to rush to make the train, never the best start to the day. I’m then greeted, via the wonderful Metro newspaper (“the internet: printed” could be their slogan) with the news that Network Rail is set to pay executive bonuses despite those self same executives “forgetting about return journeys” in a recent ticket offer. There is plenty of detail on this story if you don’t know it but the bit that REALLY got my blood boiling was this:

Last year John Armitt, the chief executive, received a bonus of £112,000 and this year was looking forward to £150,000 on top of his salary of £468,000.

And these poor executives are moaning that they should get their bonus as the ticket offer wasn’t part of their bonus incentive package.?!!
