After a long week, a night out was just what I required. The fact that the company put some cash behind the bar for us was an added bonus.

Thankfully I had Saturday to myself, which is just as well as I spent it comatose on the couch, munching on chocolate chip muffins and Steak McCoys. I have noticed that it takes me longer to get over a hangover these days, and I decided to skip my Sunday morning run. Just couldn’t face it. Must get out tonight. Someone nag me please.

We spent most of Sunday pottering. The house got a once over, as did parts of the garden inbetween some very brief but very heavy showers. We caught up on all our TV watching and I almost started reading that Harry Potter book. Almost.

And next weekend we have a wedding, a stag night, and a reception, from Friday through to Sunday. Thankfully I’ve already taken Monday off… ohh must find out when I pick up my kilt…

I’m waffling. Largely because I’m stuck for things to say. So what else is happening in the world?

The Tour de Farce is over, some bloke who may or may not be on some kind of performance enhancing drugs managed to avoid the drugs tests long enough to win it, and apparently some 21 year old Welsh guy finished the race in second last place. Which is the greater achievement?

The floods in England seem to be receding, and “everyone” will have to pay. Well that’s not very fair, is it? I quite specifically chose to live at the TOP of the Clyde Valley as the instances of flooding were on the rise (sorry) several years ago. Ohh wait, they meant to say “everyone in England”. Well that’s ok then. Sucks to be you, right?

What else? Well Mike Reid won’t be running around anymore, and the EastEnders writers have just had an entire storyline canned. Apparently Mr. Brown thinks we should be thanking Mr. Bush. That’s thanking as in “shake his hand” not thanking as in “shake him firmly by the throat”. What a strange world.

And last but not least, I downloaded some illegal music. Namely every “Now” album ever released (which some poor soul has collated from various random sources). I feel dirty and ashamed to admit such a thing. I mean it. I am ashamed to ‘own’ so much dross. Did score me brownie points with my “stuck in the 80s” wife…

Right, a few items to cover, so let’s get on with it then.

Mortgage is proceeding nicely. Valuation came in and apparently we’ve added £20k to the value of our house in the past two years. Not sure WHERE but that was a nice surprise. We’re hoping to complete the new mortgage in a couple of weeks.

Jogging is proceeding nicely. Last night was the 10 week mark and the target of jogging for 10 minutes was met with ease! I think I’m a little ahead of the schedule as I did a 13 minute run on Sunday, and that was from my house which is almost at the very top of the highest part of the Clyde Valley (on a good day we can see Ben Lomond ya know… about 35 miles away).

iTunes 7 is coming along nicely too. Having had a few hassles installing it, well not installing it as getting the damn thing to run, it turns out that Apple have changed the way it interacts with your soundcard (or something like that), so if you have an audio recording application, TotalRecorder in my case, which is set as the output for your ‘sound’, then iTunes throws its toys out the pram. Easy to fix, in your Control Panel, go to the “Sounds and Audio Devices”, select the Audio tab and set the outputs to your soundcard.

And yes, I’m sure this all worked wonderfully on a Mac, save it, it’s kinda boring.

Mind you, the new iPod Shuffle might be on the cards as the cheapy 1GB MP3 player I bought Louise hardly works, only playing 30 or so tracks and claiming it ‘can’t find the rest’. Ohh and before I get ANY complaints about Louise being a second-class gadget owner, she’s tried to use the thing all of 4 times, if she was using it regularly she’d get a Nano too. Music is most definitely MY baby in this house.

Mega busy day.

Doctors to ear syringed (wasn’t too bad).
Barbers to get hair cut (holiday romp, severe!).
Clyde Valley with a friend to get her out of the house (poor soul isn’t well).
Various shops to get items from the ‘list’ sent by my father-in-law (tea-bags etc).
Glasgow Green for 5-a-side (didn’t injury myself either)
And now I’m doing the work I didn’t do during the day. I managed 4 hours, so only 4 or 5 to go… which means I’ll still be here at 1 a.m. (nothing new there then!)

And no, I’m not sure why I’ve used so many brackets (but I have an idea…).

Ohh and thank you for all your well wishes for our holiday and anniversary. I’ll do a last round of visits to you all tomorrow and then it’s no web for two weeks. Ohhh that’s scary.. might have to find an internet cafe… just once or twice though…
