Apps

I am not a developer. I am curious about it, I work with software developers and have done for decades, so I know some of the basics. I did learn Turbo Pascal back in the day too!

No, I am not a coder, a hacker, or any other words that describe someone who is smart enough to know their way around lines of code. I can read code and get a rough understanding of what is happening, but creating it? No.

Hello AI, welcome to the conversation.

I guess I’m now a ‘vibe coder’. I’ve built a couple of apps for myself, I will not be releasing them anywhere official, I will not put the code into a public code repository, these are just for me.

That said, I realise one or two other people may find them useful so I’m offering them here to download and run on your Mac ENTIRELY AT YOUR OWN RISK. There is no support, if it breaks then it’s on you.

If you have suggestions I’m open to hearing those though!

Radio Toggle

I’ve updated this since I built v3, adding the 6Music Indie Forever stream as an option, so it now has four streams to choose from. No other options (yet) as it does what I need.

  • FIP
  • 6Music
  • Indie Forever
  • Radio 2

Get Up

I discovered, and paid for, TimeOut when COVID hit and working from home became the norm. It helped me avoid getting lost in my work for hours on end, providing a notification to stand up and move. It’s a great app, highly configurable, and I managed to get it to follow the same notification timing that my Apple Watch was already pushing at me.

It always felt a little grandiose and one app upgrade lost my configuration and I stopped using it — at least I think that’s why I ‘fell out’ with it, I can’t recall exactly.

I changed jobs, with a few days in office here and there, so had no real need for it, but another job change made me start to look for something similar.

Hello again, AI.

Get Up kicks at 10 minutes to the hour, pops a full screen reminder to GET UP, and can be dismissed by click (sometimes I need to crack on!) or you can wait a couple of minutes. It has a simple options screen too.
