I love a good portmanteau —brunch is my favourite (spork a close second).

Some are clever —Portmanteau is a portmanteau!

Some we forget started out as individual words —Pokémon, sitcom, velcro.

Some don’t really work —reflexpletive (feels a bit forced, no?)

And some of them give me the ick, the dry heaves, every time I see them.

I know it’s just words, letters, rearranged and compressed. I can’t help it, I see it and shudder a little.

With that in mind then, I say thank fuck “Blaugust” is over.
