Emotions are weird things.
Dolly Parton’s death was very sad, not seen a single bad word about her, a life lived with love, empathy, and compassion. Aspiring.
Tim Curry’s death was also sad, but having been in decreasing physical condition after his stroke, wheelchair bound, there will likely be a sense of sad relief, as I had with my Mum and Dad when they passed.
I am still struck by how these celebrity deaths impact me. I wasn’t a massive fan of either, but aware of (and an admirer of) their work. Bowie and Prince also affected me. Mercury remains the biggest celebrity loss I’ve experienced —I am primed for Sir David Attenborough of course.
As my regular reader will know —hello! how are you?!— I’ve had my share of death and grief, and whilst I run on emotions, I’m kinda tapped out. I am sad that these people died but it’s become a pause, a moment, then I have nothing to give. Which is fine, I was nothing to them.
That and having used up all my crying emotions over the past week as we’ve had a bit of a struggle getting Jack into school. He’s fine once he’s in but it’s not been easy.
Until this morning where I waited with him, the bell went and we waited in line and… then off he went, no tears, no clinging (and those in themselves were an improvement!) as he walked in and started chatting to his teacher.
So yeah, bit out of emotions right now.
What are your thoughts?
