• PSA: Know What You’re Doing | The Art of Manliness — Amen to this. I’d also add an addendum around being ready to finish your transaction as well. The number of people who can’t figure out how to LEAVE a checkout, or queue, baffles me. I guess I’m a high-agency kinda guy then.
• As the wildfires burned · thega.me.uk — The Cairngorms fire is still smouldering. My family were evacuated from their home due to it. A poignant and timely poem.
• New Worlds – Precast Reinforced Concrete Heart — “When Moorcock and Ballard repurposed contemporary newspaper clippings they were saying, stop, look – can you believe this shit? But does stopping and looking actually help?”

• Ruminations on notifications – David Bushell – Web Dev (UK) — “…that’s the problem with notifications. There is rarely the granular control necessary to make them useful. Most senders cannot be trusted to used them responsibly. The temptation to abuse direct access to people is too much, especially for men with guns.” AMEN!

• The 2021 Happy Planet Index – Happy Planet Index — The UK is 19th. Interesting way to rank countries that isn’t focussed on money.
• I’m being radicalised and that’s a good thing – Marc Gilbert — “We should be inspired by the work women are doing together to make their lot better in life, and channel that to be supportive in any way possible. Not to hand-hold, not to insinuate that it cannot be done alone and we should be integral to this process (see, there’s my inner man speaking); but to recognise that these structural inequalities exist and we can absolutely work on our side to reduce these obstacles (that we made and subsequently ignored as they serve our own interests), to clear the way for women to step forward without tripping over the absolute clusterfuck we left for (and expected) them to clean up.”
