A weekly recap of the articles and posts I’ve read that I think are worth your time.
- Tech sucks: You have to vote with your wallet, or nothing will change – 82MHz — I enjoy Apple products. But I am aware of the “trap” I am in. Does that make me complacent? Controlled? Less so or more so than those in the Android “trap”?
- The Clash of the Egosystems — “egosystem leaders are not motivated by thinking about us, shared ideals, or even technological progress. They’re inspired by market capture, expansion and growth, data profiteering, and extinguishing their rivals.”
- Thoughts I had while reading your comment — Excellent. True. Although a bit weird as they don’t appear to HAVE a comment option on their site.. hmmmm
- You Really Should Read The Expanse | moddedbear.com — It’s true. If you like Sci-fi, and like reading, the Expanse universe is utterly epic. Actually, scratch that. DO NOT read any of them. They’ll just suck you in and before you know it you are still awake at 2am for just one more chapter…
- Why I Play Board Games (And So Should You) | Brain Baking — Starting to see this with Jack as he is inventing his own stories and games, and loves having us join in. I’ve never been a big board game player, but I wonder if Jack will be? Excited to find out.
- Refusing to be doomed – What the Fran — “Your focus determines your reality”. Couldn’t agree more with the premise of this post. We are what we consume and all that. Less doom, look for the good, there is ALWAYS more of it about than you think.
- How the promise of carefree ‘summertime’ is fading in sweaty 2026 | AP News — It’s 12C and raining as I write this. Yet it’s easy to see how the heatwaves in the south of England could start to move north. Tell me again what you are doing about climate change?
- Algo Free — Turns out I’m quite far along this journey already.
- Aaron Sorkin on Facebook, Democracy, AI, and ‘The Social Reckoning’ — It’s nice when intelligent people are given a voice. And whilst it has its flaws, Sorkins voice is always smart.
- Pete Ashton’s Notes & Links – Notes and links from 15 Aug — Looks like Pete and I are cut from similar cloth. Not developers or designers per se but familiar and happy to tinker. Maybe Eleventy is my next solution?
What are your thoughts?
