Farewell Weeknotes?

I may — and I retain the right to reverse this decision — be stopping my week notes posts.

I find them useful in terms of looking back over the past week to reflect on moments from my life, the media I’ve consumed etc, but by and large they are starting to feel a little performative. I’m posting them because I feel like I should because it’s part of the cadence of my website.

Except, it isn’t really. I only started them recently and whilst I’ve done recap style posts in the past, they didn’t have the same structure or reasoning behind them, they were much more what this blog is normally like, a quick brain dump of activities, or links, or whatever else I was trying to capture at the time.

Given I have two ‘styles’ of posts here, the easiest option is to switch my own priority view of the Musings and Notes posts. Musings become their own category and remain the longer pieces I like to tackle, whereas Notes will become the ‘everything else’ category into which I can post a summary of recent life events, or a list of books I’ve enjoyed recently, etc.

It’ll take a little finagling on the home page to keep things appearing smoothly but I think it’s worth it as it’ll free me up a little from the (imagined) pressure of having to post Weeknotes every week.
