Cycling is the thing

Busy at work, little time to collate any cohesive thoughts into a post.

The Commonwealth Games has started in Glasgow. I volunteered in 2014 and had a wonderful time, but the lack of free-to-air TV coverage, and the curtailed list of sports has made it a quiet kickoff. Jack and I might head up tomorrow and see what is going on, see how much of a buzz there is? Tempted to get Jack to the Sir Chris Hoy Velodrome so he can see how fast they go!!

Tour de France continues, as does Pogacar’s dominance. I still love it though, the tactics, the grit, the massive effort the cyclists put in. Carapaz stage win was glorious, what a great rider to watch.

Cycling wise I’m also following along as the britishadventuremum cycles the length of Britain, whilst towing a trailer with her two kids in it. Epic and all for charity, check her out!

And —slightly less grandiose— I managed a two hour cycle the other day, to Glasgow and back to get drugs for our dog, Dave —vet prescribed, I’m not his dealer.

Aside from all that, next week is Jack’s last week at nursery, before he starts school in August. We are heading up to Nethybridge —presuming the current wildfire abates, fingers crossed— for a week long break and time with Granny and Grandpa! Alas I’ll need to work while I’m there, but at least I can be around in the evenings and, hopefully, get some cycle of my own in too. The roads up there are wonderful!.

Wildfire update: Literally since posting this the family up at Nethybridge (in-laws) have been evacuated to Aviemore. Really hope it’s only precautionary.
