2005 called

I can’t recall what made me stumble across this old article from the Guardian —possibly my own blogpost about helping out Zoe as I designed her website back in 2005— but it was nice to reminisce about those heady days.

As well designing the website for myboyfriendisatwat Zoe (honourable mention in her sidebar), I also designed girlwithaonetrackmind Zoe’s website (my old one man designs moniker still at the foot of the page!) and attended her book launch in London. In fact I did a few others, a couple of which are still plodding along much to my amazement.

I still find it odd to see things I helped create still on the internet in their original form, both websites above are, by and large, the same as when I designed them (the vagaries of how modern web browsers present them aside).

Whilst this blog never really hit those heights, even if I did make it into some aspects of Scottish media, it was a joy to befriend (remotely at times) many people on the early UK/Europe blogging scene. Few retain their blogs these days, but I am still following their lives on social media here and there.

Back in those days I think I’d count about 20 different people as ‘online friends’ and was lucky enough to be invited to weddings and parties, spending time with them in real life! Heady days for sure.

Anyway, don’t mind me, just taking a break from being busy to think back fondly on what was, I now realise, a remarkable time in my life and something I should give myself more credit for than I ever have.

Anyway, now back to the task list! Busy busy!
