Why we plan

In response to Don’t Plan So Much which is an interesting theory if your life allows for it.

You might think that you cant head out because you have kids, but either you can call in a favor from your partner for a kid-free night, or better yet, bring them with you. Kids love camping, and you don’t need to plan 3-5 bussiness day in advance with them, at most you need to give them 15-30 minutes to finish whatever they’re doing.

I’m basically trying to think how we would go away for one night without some form of plan. Do I want to be trawling round places to find somewhere to stay with an exhausted kid? Do I want to get to a place and realise I’ve forgotten to bring something with me? How do I get a kid out of the door in 15-30 minutes for an overnight? Are they expected to pack for themselves?

Don’t get me wrong, I love the thinking, and I too remember those heady days of being able to make a decision and act on it within the same few hours. But thankfully I am lucky enough, and privileged enough, to have a kid so I’ll take these suggestions with a pinch of salt.

Ahhh the folly of youth!
