When I recently came home from a two-week holiday, I realised that I had almost no interest in catching up with much of the accumulated RSS backlog.

I unsubscribed from half of the personal blogs that I (clearly don’t) “read” and was similarly ruthless with the subject-specific music/IT/lifestyle stuff.

Since then, checking Google Reader has been more of a pleasure than a chore. Declutter your feeds; you’ll feel so much better for it.

Agreed Hg, and I have. My use of RSS doesn’t rest on the ‘unread’ count as I largely ignore it. Instead I have two large folders I use to ‘filter’ a large set of sources, giving me a random look into stuff, rather then a specific focus.

My blogs list is quite short.
