Spotted in the Metro this morning was a piece on space elevators (lifts to those in the UK). Seriously. They would be anchored on a sea bed and carbon nano-nodule cables* would run up through the atmosphere and out into space. Just imagine these great elevators would shuttling people into space, I wonder if they will be made of glass…
