A very nice man he was. Nice little sports car, bag full of impressive looking lenses.

Sit here, balance your laptop on your knees, try and pretend it’s above freezing. Do you always look this grumpy?

Click, flash, whirr. Click, flash, whirr. Click, flash, whirr.

Painless.

And what did I forget? I forgot to ask him for a copy of the photos! DOH. I’ll send an email on the off chance it’s possible.

P.S. Still no sign of my mug. Found it – it’s been “borrowed” (borrowed, stolen, such a fine line…) for use by some visitors. Such is the price for having a nice presentable mug. I guess I’m now faced with no choice but to go and buy one with a picture of Jordan on it, topless, preferably (“yeah so you can get the coffee in!” … just before anyone else says it).

So it seems that, having talked to one journalist on the phone, emailed another with my thoughts on “Scottish Blogging” and having been asked if there was a “photo opportunity” for today, there is a very good chance that my slightly off-putting mug will be adorning a page in The Sunday Times Scotland this coming Sunday.

Of course, as with anything like this they’ll no doubt pull the piece in preference for something about hamster farming, 101 uses for soggy cardboard, or something considered slightly less inane than blogging.

We’ll see.

In other news – bearing in mind that I do try and NOT blog about work if I can help it yet sometimes the occasion demands it – some chuffer has stolen my mug!

Reading
A quick thanks to everyone who took the time to a/ read my book list b/ suggested what I should read next. After some deliberation I plumped for Ghostwritten (although if I’m honest, it’s mainly because it’s been sitting on my shelf the longest, came recommended by Caterina if I remember correctly). Don’t know why I hadn’t read it having enjoyed number9dream so much.

Football
Congratulations to Chelsea. Whilst the millions invested obviously have had a large bearing it was certainly a team effort in the game last night. Great game to watch as a neutral as well.

Call centres
I’m guessing the phone systems are computerised, so why don’t they publish the current queue time data to a website somwhere, or at the very least do some analysis and release some info on when is best to call.

Do they already and I’ve missed this vital piece of information?

Granted the initial publicity might not be too complimentary but I think, for the customer anyway, this would be a great step forward for a lot of companies.

Weather
It’s another glorious day, he says as he wistfully gazes out of the window. Not a cloud in sight. I think I’ll go for a walk at lunchtime, nip down to the shop or, better still, grab my camera and wander through the local woods.

UPDATE: Blue skies and brass monkeys. brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.

bookmark_borderMeme: 60 Seconds

In the last 60 seconds I:

Finished my cup of coffee, grimacing as I swallow the tepid dredges.
Paused to figure out why iTunes had decided to play a Neil Diamond track (Brooklyn Roads) right after The Flaming Lips – Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots.
Rubbed my left eye, removed some sleep.
Opened a Word document.
Listened to the birds singing outside the window.

What did YOU do in the last 60 seconds? (BEFORE you read this)

bookmark_borderMeme Aid: The Bloggers' Disco

That man mike is on a musical roll at the moment, and I’m LOVING this idea (I feel an MP3 compilation coming on!), and it’s all in the name of Comic Relief.

Imagine, if you will, the blogmeet to end all blogmeets. One blogosphere under a groove. A sea – nay, a veritable ocean – of “LOVE your work!” hugs, “Darling, you were ROBBED at The Bloggies!” air-kisses and “WHEN is someone going to PUBLISH you!” schmoozes, where tout le monde and their blogroll are getting royally rat-arsed on Vodka Red Bulls, and bopping around like maniacs to the sound of… WHAT, precisely?

So, which tune? Do I raid my hospital radio DJ past or go for something contemporary and über-cool? Do I risk becoming a social outcast for choosing a floor clearing track, or will plaudits be heaped on me for an inspired choice that will be THE hit of the night.

Ach, bugger it. I choose The Trammps – Disco Inferno (grab it while it’s there – limited time only! TOO LATE), Burn baby burn! – Burn that mama down!

Go on, join the fun!
