Prisoner

Prompted by this post by that man Sevitz.

I’ve linked to this before (but can’t find where as the search engine is still catching up since the domain/server move), and notice that it’s also been updated concerning the “parallels with the recent abuse of Iraqi prisoners”.

The Stanford Prison Experiment: A Simulation Study of the Psychology of Imprisonment.

“Our planned two-week investigation into the psychology of prison life had to be ended prematurely after only six days because of what the situation was doing to the college students who participated. In only a few days, our guards became sadistic and our prisoners became depressed and showed signs of extreme stress.”

Well worth a look and I’m surprised I’ve not mentioned it before now.
