Gosh I was busy last night, busy playing old PlayStation games that is as I picked up an original PlayStation last night all thanks to Freecycle and David in Yoker. Now I know you can play PS1 games on a PS2 system but where’s the retro fun in that?! Unfortunately I’m not sure if I have any old PS1 games left, I was sure I kept the best multi-player racing game ever – Micro Machines – and a couple of the better releases (Tekken, ISS Pro Evo etc etc) but I think a trip up into the loft is required to confirm.

I do like the idea behind Freecycle – “When you want to find a new home for something — whether it’s a chair, a fax machine, piano, or an old door — you simply send an e-mail offering it to members of your Freecycle group.” – and have to admit that there is something to be said for getting things for free. Of course you have to buy (pun intendeed) into the spirit of things and know that offering items is as good taking them, and yes I’ll admit that I’ve not yet offered anything (there is a futon in our loft that might be first in the queue though!). However I’m surprised at some of the things on offer, considering how little effort it is to “eBay” something*, as I expected it to be the harder to move items, furniture and the like. A quick scan down the recent emails and there are books, plants, lamps, magazine collections all listed alongside an old Ford Granada and a “huge cardboard box” (I kid you not).

Anyway, it’s sites like these that keep the internet both interesting – receiving the emails is a veritable pot luck – and community driven. Why not see if there is a local group near you.

* not strictly true unless you’ve used it before.

The weekend creeps into view. Slowly.

Tomorrow we’re off to Dumbarton to catch up with family; talk about next years holiday with sister-in-law, see if my Mum’s voice has returned to normal, give my sister a big hug*,and find out how my brother-in-law enjoyed New York.

Louise is out on Saturday night so I get the TV/DVD/PS2 to myself. What to watch, what to play (Pro Evo 4 anyone? Errr… yes of course it’s legal m’laud).

Sunday and… well no plans. I’ve got the grass to maim, and some weeding wouldn’t go amiss.

Ohh and there are some international football games going on over the weekend as well. Good luck to Scotland and Wales (only because I reckon we’ll both need it).

Have a good one y’all!

P.S. I’m STILL waiting on some decent suggestions for a TV unit.. awww crap, need to look for one of those at the weekend as well..

* Hassles with her degree course, she has 0.5 of a credit to get and has been accepted back to get it! Yay!
