Futurehead

Interesting discussion the other night, we’ll see what comes of it. Interesting discussion this morning, we’ll see what comes of it. To clear a couple of things up – Alec Guinness had 8 characters, the re-design is still going, sleep patterns matter (although I’ve been ignoring them), and I HAVE been writing stuff for this site, they will be posted once the re-design has been done.

Toss a coin

Life decisions are never easy and I think the one that lays ahead will be a no-brainer, still got me thinking though. I’ve mentioned elsewhere in (on?) this site that I admire people with courage and conviction and the right amount of carefree spirit. I’m not sure if I have it, to do what I really want, would probably mean sliding down the career scale (and more importantly the salary scale).

Half-Life

I’m not a huge gamer (as is evident by my pitiful attempts in deathmatch) but it is so much fun. Admittedly getting battered to death for the 5th time by someone with a crowbar can get a bit tedious, especially when you have a BIG gun, but it is addictive – an adrenalin buzz… suddenly I can see how people get addicted to these things. Rise of the Triads and DukeNukem were previous DeathMatch games, but I never really took to them. The problem now – I will soon get hold of a gun, run down the street, probably naked, whooping and shooting innocent bystanders. I’m joking of course, I wouldn’t need to shoot them if they saw me naked, …

R.I.P. Sir Alec

Well we survived the weekend…just. Not that we had the best start to Monday morning, Sir Alec Guinness is no longer with us. Our thoughts go out to his family and friends. It is a true loss of a great character actor, and from all accounts, a great man. Oh and if you only know him from Star Wars – go and get some of his other films! Bridge over the River Kwai, The Ladykillers, Our Man in Havana and many more. His 6 roles in Kind Hearts and Coronets typefy his approach and mastering of charactering acting. He will be missed.

Right again

4 kids for the weekend. They are no hassle, but constant work. As my mother-in-law (who I get on with wonderfully as it happens) points out, when we have our own kids it will be different. And as I keep telling her – I know it will! Next week heralds one year at CADspace. Hhhmmmm, the fanfare is decidely muted and off-key. We’ll see how things pan out, a couple of interesting discussions with some people have made the future… well …decidely optimistic. “I know you slept well, you are in a good mood”, she said. I was right about the sleeping patterns then.

New Sister

I have a new sister – my Mum has decided to sponsor a child in Mozambique. It works through a community programme (type of thing) so that the sponsorship(s) are spread around to all the children in the village. She has been wanting to do SomeTHiNG like this for a while. Nice one Mum! As I mentioned a while back, I am seriously considering what I do at the moment, trying to get a feel if it is what I want. I read often about people just upping sticks and changing career, not sure if I have the courage to do that though… or maybe it’s a reflection of my ‘at work’ mood. We moved up one year ago yesterday, …

Boycott the Pump

Well we’ve done our bit for the petrol boycott – have you? Tonight, tonight (Smashing Pumpkins, WAY before Phil Collins (or was it Genesis)) I will continue the oft mentioned re-design. Although as I didn’t get to sleep until 1 a.m. it might be a bit of a struggle…

This or that!

Ever get to the stage when you have so much to do, you really don’t know where to start, so you end up starting about 6 or 7 major things and then you start wondering why you think you are getting a little stressed. I can see why people turn to drink.

Tell me why

Wouldn’t it be better not to discuss a forthcoming re-design and just do it (tm I think…?) a la http://www.kottke.org. Also – why do I think my site needs to be ‘cool’ and ‘design-ey’. Hmmmm. It’s Monday, I could tell when I woke up and the hassles at work only confirmed it for me…oh and it rained.
