And all of a sudden it’s Friday.

Been a weird week. Lots happened on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. Things started to slow on Thursday and they are positively snail like today. Still it’s nice to wind down for the weekend, although aside from a spot of gardening (how convenient that the Euro2004 games don’t kick off until 5pm) we don’t have much planned.

Other thoughts have been prompted by this wonderful picture, namely: Why Lomo?

Granted my photography aspirations are only slightly above ‘snapshot’ level, and if I had the energy or inclination I’d like to learn more and improve my skills, but … well I just don’t ‘get’ the fascination photographers have with these wee cameras. Of course that’s maybe the problem. Without an understanding of photography I struggle to understand the appeal.

Can anyone explain it?

bookmark_borderSurvived

Well a second game of 5-a-side has been survived. With no cramps, just a bit of a niggle from Tuesday but I can live with that.

Firstly, thanks to all for your suggestions, I was aware of most of them but the potassium and calcium ones were new. Anyway, I had a packet of salt and vinegar crisps mid-afternoon, drank plenty of water and had a banana about an hour before we played. So.. emm.. that means that one or all of those solutions worked for me. Ohh and before anyone asks, I ALWAYS stretch before and after, I learnt that one years ago.

If you also get cramp, you might find the following links useful, particularly the first one:

1. MUSCLE CRAMPS: Do they cramp your style?
Discusses several of the theories and suggests experimenting with them all to find a solution.
2. Hydration – including how you can tell if you are hydrated
Plumbing (pun intended!) new depths now, pee analysis?
3. Night Cramps
I’m including this because I’ve had it three times now, the first was when I was… 14?… the most recent occured when my foot and lower leg were in plaster. Trying stretching out a cramp with a cast on!

This has been a public health post, brought to you courtesy of zed, Dad, Pootlecat, Dragon, Ann Marie, Donalda (the latter two really should get a blog… come on gal’s it’s dead easy to setup, and you’d be brilliant!)

bookmark_borderRemember to Vote

Today’s the day (unless you are one of the ‘postal’ voters who didn’t actually receive your polling card) to take part in what the Beeb are calling: Vote 2004 (original title there, who thought up that one?)

Now, what are your thoughts on spoiling your ballot paper? I seem to recall that the addition of a “none of the above” option was suggested a few years back, whatever happened to that idea?

Either way, make sure you vote!

bookmark_borderArchives borked

Working on permalinks/archive pages at the moment. Why doesn’t Blogger let you use a different template for archived pages??!!!!!

Sod it, back to the old style archives. At least for the moment.

bookmark_borderAnd then…

… I realised I couldn’t remember where I’d said it. Was it on my site? In a comment somewhere? Had I spoken it aloud? Now I know my memory is bad but this kind of ‘internet haze’ is becoming quite alarming.

Take, for example, a typical surfing session. Check my email, check my site, read any comments and respond, check some sites via the blogroll (or two). Then it’s onto the news and ‘miscellany’ sites. If anything is noteworthy, open it in a new tab in Firefox to be read, or blogged about, later.

Only thing is, I’m beginning to lose track of where, and what, I’ve commented on, and how I found it. Anyone else experiencing this?

It’s almost akin to vague memories I have of the internet in 1996. Even then (B.G. – Before Google, also known as the Age of Altavista) there was loads to be found, silly stuff, clever stuff, current stuff, older stuff, hundreds and thousands of pieces of information that never seemed to end. In fact you could almost compare the internet to, say, the universe; both started from one event and have continued to grow/explode outward and show no signs of stopping.

I wonder – which will reach capacity first?
