Reeling

We’ve not been to the cinema in ages, and are planning on going tonight. Thing is the nearest UGC to us only offers a limited selection of movies so we usually end up not bothering at all rather than go to the huge one in Glasgow which is still showing some movies from a couple of months back. The other problem we have is that I can be a tad contradictory when it comes to movie choices. Sometimes I just can’t be bothered with ‘silly’ movies (Farrelly brothers output for example) other times they are exactly what I want to see. Sometimes I like a dark thriller, something slightly twisted, and other times I’ll prefer a romantic comedy. I’m never …

Reversing

Ohhh joy. One of the houses across the road from us is getting their driveway mono-blocked. Cue large lorry reversing into the cul-de-sac at 6.45 this morning. Cue Gordon having a word with the driver at 7.15 asking him what the feck he thinks he’s doing. Cue grumpy Gordon for rest of day. Grrrrrr.

Blurry

What a great day we had on Friday. Great company, and a wonderfully relaxed feel to everything. It all went smoothly and it was so good to see the newlywed couple laughing and smiling during their first dance. It’s been a hard year for Susan, she’s been fighting illness for the last couple of years, but Friday saw a return to the loving, laughing, spirit that I first got to know. By the time we got home on Saturday we were both knackered, Louise especially. She was busy all day with her bridesmaid’s duties (although she’s in her element when there are things to do and people to organise), and ended up asleep in the afternoon. We woke up around …

Pre-Blogging

Off work tomorrow, but will be getting ready for the weekend which includes a wedding on Friday – where Louise is the bridesmaid and I’m the man behind the shoogly video camera, an engagement party on Saturday night – for Louise’s brother’s girlfriends best friend, and a lunch on Sunday – with the people from the wedding party again as the new Mr & Mrs. Lindsay don’t fly off for their honeymoon until Monday morning. Friday night has already been pegged as a ‘keep the bar staff up all night’ night. The last two times I’ve been out drinking with the same crowd that will be at the engagement party on Saturday I’ve ended up so drunk I’ve fallen asleep …

We want Donnie!

Well it looks like monkey boy will be in power for another four years. Wonder how long it’ll take him to invade Iran? Rash update: it seems to be fading slightly, only the ‘friction’ areas are still obvious and itchy (including the main one most of you will be using right now). The anti-hystamines seem to be doing the trick but they don’t have put my head in a spin. Spent last night flicking between the football and listening to the director’s commentary for Donnie Darko. Kevin Smith joins the director Richard Kelly (they are old pals) and it’s one of the better ‘commentary’ items I’ve heard. They veer of to discuss other movies, influences, thematic devices in general and …

Marriage

On Friday we will be at the wedding of a very good friend. I hope she too can enjoy all the benefits being married brings. Although currently the only one I can think of is having someone to rub cream into those itchy bits you can’t reach. I THINK it’s been the bubble bath I used a couple of times over the last fortnight. I rarely have a bath these days but enjoy a good long soak after playing football. I THINK that’s what it is anyway. Nothing else has changed so, unless I’ve either developed an adversion to Daz washing powder or it’s a reaction to something I’ve eaten, the bubble bath is the Prime Suspect (side question: Helen …

The Incredibles

The Incredibles Well what can I say that hasn’t already been said. The guys and gals at Pixar are at the top of their game with this one, the storyline, pacing, and script are all first rate and the animation.. ohh the animation. There are a couple of scenes where, I’m sorry but this has to be said, they have cheated. Pixar MUST have superimposed some of the water and forest scenes in the movie. There is NO WAY that it is ALL animation. I’m onto you Pixar!! If you liked Monsters Inc, Toy Story, A Bugs Life and any of their short movies, then go see it. You’ll love it. Wonder when the sequel will be released?

Itchy Scratchy

Friday night is a bit of a blur but was definitely a good night. Saturday was spent hibernating on the sofa. Sunday was spent clearing out the loft. Ohh and I have developed a lovely rash over most of my skin which is either from the soap powder, conditioner or possibly from the Sanex bubble bath I used last week (at least I hope it’s that and nothing else). Either way I’m constantly itchy and got little sleep last night, so please excuse the paucity in posting that will likely be experienced today.
